Seating
Seats are sold individually, so every person needs a ticket. Seating is assigned by Mt. Hood Railroad based on your ticket type. VIP, Premium, and Parlor tickets include a table that seats up to 4. Groups with fewer than four may be seated with other passengers, so if you’d like a private table, be sure to book tickets in multiples of 4. Standard seating does not include a table. To sit with friends or family, make one reservation together or note the first and last name of the group you’d like to sit with in the booking comments.
Babies
Children ages 0–2 can ride for free as lap infants.
Wheelchairs
Our Parlor seating can accommodate 2 wheelchairs, with a max width of 27 inches. A lift is available, but electric chairs cannot be loaded or stored. Please note: wheelchairs do not fit through restroom doors due to the train’s historic design.
Assistance with Boarding
If someone in your party needs extra help boarding (like with walkers), just let us know in your reservation comments and our team will be ready to assist.
Pets
No pets permitted. Anyone found sneaking a pet aboard will face a $100 fine and will not be allowed to re-board after the Pine Grove stop.
Weapons
Since we are family-friendly, no weapons are allowed. Even if you have a conceal-carry license for a gun, we ask that you leave your weapon in your car. This also applies to all knives and any other weapons.
Cancellation Policy
If you would like cancellation flexibility, we highly recommend purchasing Trip Protection when booking your reservation. It allows you to cancel UP TO 24 HOURS before your departure time and receive a full cash refund minus service fees.

Experience the Charm of a Summer Train Journey Through Hood River’s Valley
Step back in time and experience the Summer Train as it leisurely travels along the Hood River Valley for a short distance and through the beautiful Northern Oregon forest on this roundtrip excursion to Pine Grove.
The train ride will take you through tall trees, across the Hood River, past a small waterfall, stop at one of the few switchbacks still operating in America, change directions and climb a 3% grade through orchards and vineyards. As it approaches Pine Grove, enjoy iconic views of Mt. Hood and Mt. Adams. To help plan your perfect day, we recommend arriving around 10:45 a.m. to check in and pick up your tickets at Will Call in the historic train depot. The train will depart promptly at 11:30 a.m.
During the layover, passengers will deboard for approximately 45-minutes to visit The Fruit Company & Museum and Mt. Hood Winery. Depending on the class of ticket, table service is offered during the train ride with refreshments & food options. If you packed lunch, there are picnic tables outside with mountain views, or you can eat on the train. The train will return the same 45 min route back to the depot at 2 pm.
