FALL TRAIN

When you arrive at the train station in downtown Hood River, please proceed to the Will Call window to pick up your tickets. You can also visit restrooms, snacks, and some gift items.  Nearby are quaint stores, cafes, restaurants, and hotels located within walking distance.

There are a limited number of items for sale at the train station, most of which are related to railroads. Then during the layover in Pine Grove, you can visit The Fruit Company gift shop which contains a much larger variety of inventory including apparel, foods, beverages, souvenirs, and memorabilia.

On the way to Pine Grove, the train will cross a bridge over the Hood River which flows from Mt Hood down to the Columbia River. The track will continue to follow the river past the small Whiskey Creek waterfall on the left side and eventually veer off into one of the only remaining switchbacks in the USA. As it climbs a 3% grade up the hills, you will pass forest land and orchards before arriving at a vineyard and The Fruit Company.

Please have your booking number or confirmation email to present at Will Call when you pick up your tickets. Sturdy shoes with closed toes are best for train safety. (No slippers, open-toed shoes, sandals, or flip flops.) Please check the weather since you will be getting on and off the train a few times and walking to various buildings, so dress accordingly. Throughout your visit, you are welcome to take photos and videos as you like.

You can buy tickets on our website, visiting the train station, or by calling 541-387-4000.  Everyone traveling must have a ticket, including children sitting on your lap under the age of 2 (a ‘babe-in-arms’ ticket can be obtained from our reservation agent or online.)

We do not mail tickets. All tickets may be picked up at the Will Call windows located inside the train station the same day as your booking. The ticket windows generally open 1 hour prior departure.

Yes, everyone booked in one reservation will be assigned seats together. Depending on how many are in your group, your booking may have seats assigned across the aisle or directly behind or forward each other.

Child: age 2- 12

Adult: age 13 and up

Infant in Arms: age under 2 held on adult lap

All reservations are final, so please be sure you know exactly which date and which departure time you wish to secure. If you need to reschedule, please contact the reservations office no less than four (4) days before your trip. A modest rebooking fee will apply. In the event the train is unable to operate for any reason, you will be notified immediately and given a complete refund or the opportunity to reschedule.

If you would like cancellation flexibility, we recommend purchasing Cancellation+ during the checkout process in order to allow for a refund if you cancel AT LEAST 24 hours before your departure

Please plan on arriving at least 45 – 60 minutes prior to your trip. This will ensure proper time to find parking, pick up your tickets, use the restroom if necessary, and peruse the gift shop if time allows.

There is paid parking for about $4 near the Hood River train station. Parking can be pre-paid with your reservation in order to make it easier upon arrival. If you pre-paid for parking, your original confirmation email should have instructions for printing at home to display in your windshield. In addition, we have a designated area for disabled parking, so please display the proper badge. Otherwise, there is also metered parking along the downtown streets of Hood River.

We offer 15% discounts only for our scenic trains that operate in spring, summer, and fall for groups with a minimum of 25 passengers paying with a single method of payment. Group discounts are not available for special event trains, such as Easter, Oktoberfest, or Christmas.

A group needs to have a minimum of 25 passengers, babes in arms do not count towards this total. A babe in arms is a child under 2 years of age who sits on an adult’s lap.

If possible, your group will be assigned an exclusive block of seats together. Tickets will be printed for these seats, but not assigned to individual members of the Group. This allows your group members to determine individually which seats they would like to sit in during the ride. Please advise your group members to arrive early to ensure smooth seating aboard the train.

Please call 541-387-4000 to make your reservation because we cannot currently book a Group’s reservations online. Our ticketing office will give your reservation the attention it requires.
