Located just 30 minutes outside of Portland is Multnomah Falls, Oregon’s tallest waterfall at 611 feet. According to Native American lore, Multnomah Falls was created to win the heart of a young princess who wanted a hidden place to bathe. Today just a short 5 minute walk from the parking lot is the oft photographed Benson Bridge spans the falls at the base of one of the two-drops.
The falls attracts visitors of all types and ages, with both wheelchair-accessible viewing platforms and more advanced hiking trails that lead all the way to the top. The falls steady stream runs year-round, with the highest volume in winter and spring with a partial freeze in winter. The Multnomah Falls Lodge has excellent views and is home to a restaurant, gift shop, espresso bar, and U.S. Forest Service interpretive center.
