Arrival:  

You arrive at the historic Mount Hood Depot, which offers a cozy starting point for your journey ahead. Every corner is filled with seasonal treats and souvenirs full of fall magic. Our crew is ready to welcome you and ensure you have a great experience from start to finish.

Train Ride: 

You step onto the train and immediately feel the excitement of rail travel. The interior is bathed in soft golden light. Its warm vintage design is the perfect escape from the brisk fall air.

As the train sets off, you enjoy the rhythmic chug of the engine and stunning views outside your window. The woods are ablaze with gold, red, and orange shades. These brightly colored trees surround the tracks and leave the scent of freshly fallen leaves behind them. Above, you see the snow-dusted Mount Hood, and below, you see the sparkling Columbia River Gorge.

Soft music plays as the conductor brings the region to life with stories and snippets of its history. You receive a complimentary treat from the crew and watch children scribble on fall-themed coloring pages.

If you’re in the mood for something extra special, you can purchase a gourmet meal or sample some fine wines from the staff.

Layover:  

One of the highlights of your journey is the layover at a small family-owned business. The Fruit Company’s gift shop and museum offer a variety of delicious fall treats like cider and chocolate-covered pears. Walk through the orchard and smell the sweet harvest air as trees bend under the weight of ripe fruit.

Nearby, the Mt. Hood Winery offers the region’s finest wines, paired with the crisp fall air and breathtaking views of Mount Hood and Mount Adams. This break in the journey is your time to soak in the sweet sensations of the season.
