Train Schedule

Afternoon Trains depart at 5:00pm and return at 6:30pm Evening Trains depart at 8:00pm and return at 9:30pm (evening trains not available all days - 8:00pm dates in Red above)
Boarding begins 30 minutes prior to departure.

Description

Passengers are invited to wear their pajamas on the train. Passenger cars are decorated for the holidays. The Conductor will punch each passengers train ticket.

En route to the North Pole:
The book, The Polar Express will be read. Music from The Polar Express movie will be played. Passengers are served hot chocolate and cookies by chefs.

At the North Pole, and the return portion of the train tour:
Santa Claus and elves await the passengers (passengers are not allowed off of the train). Santa Claus and elves board the train. Elves will be in each train car and will entertain passengers and lead them in singing Christmas carols. Santa Claus moves through each train car, will greet each child, giving them their own personal large silver bell.

Where is the train depot located?

The Mt. Hood Railroad Depot is located on the corner of First St. & Cascade Ave. in downtown Hood River on the south side of I-84, 60 miles east of Portland at exit 63. Hood River can also be approached from the south by State Highway 35, on the scenic Mt. Hood Loop.

Upper or lower seats in the special Dome car plus a souvenir commemorative The Polar Express mug filled with hot chocolate and topped with whipped cream.

Unfortunately, due to the popularity of this train tour, there are no refunds, reschedules or cancellations. Please be sure that when you make your reservation that you know exactly which date and which train time you wish to secure.
